The Children’s Book Revelation recognizes an emerging author each year. The winner receives €5,000 and a dedicated display on the walls of the ADAGP, as well as a critical text. The Children’s Book Revelation is awarded in partnership with La Charte des auteurs et illustrateurs jeunesse.

How much is the grant?
The winning artist will receive €5,000 and will also benefit from a critical text and a dedicated presentation on the walls of the ADAGP.
Who can apply?
This Children’s Book Revelation is open to children's authors and illustrators. A pre-selection committee made up of book industry professionals and coordinated by the Charter will select 15 albums whose authors meet the following eligibility criteria:
- The author must have written the text and illustrations for the album;
- Be a French artist (working or living in France for at least 5 years, or of French nationality living abroad);
- Have published a maximum of 3 children's books on their own account, including at least one between 1 June 2023 and 31 May 2024. This last book will be entered for the Children's Book Revelation. Children's comics and children's documentaries are not eligible.
At the end of the pre-selection process, a jury made up of artists, journalists and professionals will select the winner.
How do I apply?
Each candidate must submit an application in French. The procedure to follow is available on the ADAGP application page.

With its 1,400 members, La Charte makes its voice heard by public institutions in the form of clear positions, pricing recommendations or "hard-hitting" actions. It aims to ensure the promotion of children's literature through its cultural actions.
The first role of La Charte is to defend the rights and status of authors. It represents authors before public authorities to speak on their behalf during reforms, leads social struggles to improve their working conditions and remuneration, informs them about their rights (brochures, round tables) and helps them concretely (free legal aid). Through the Youth Revelation, in partnership with ADAGP, the Charter identifies and supports emerging artists.

These direct grants – ranging from €5,000 to €30,000 – were launched several years ago under ADAGP's Cultural Action program to allow artists to pursue and develop their work.
