ADAGP and SGDL (French Society of People of Letters) have partnered to create a €9,000 grant to encourage the production of artists’ books.

How much is the grant?
The awarded project will receive €9,000.
Who can apply?
- A duo comprising a visual artist from the French art scene (who has been living or working in France for at least five years, or is a French national living abroad) and a French-speaking author (fiction, non-fiction, poetry, children’s books, theatre) who has already been published by a traditional publisher;
- Or a trio if a publisher is involved in the project.
For what kind of project?
The artist’s book project must involve a visual artist and a writer, together with a publishing partner. An artist’s book is a creative artwork presented in the form of a book. The print run must be limited (between 1 and 500 copies) and may be signed and/or numbered. Magazines, fanzines, deluxe versions of standard editions, or any book presenting the artist’s work (such as monographs or illustrated books) are not eligible.
What are the application requirements?
The application must be submitted in French. The process is available on ADAGP's application platform.

The French Society of People of Letters (SGDL) aims to promote authors’ rights and protect their interests. It ensures that the moral and economic rights of every author of the written word (writers, essayists, translators) are upheld, whether writing is their primary activity or not, and regardless of any collective management organisation they may belong to (SOFIA, SACEM, SACD, SCAM, etc.). The Society also works to improve the legal and social status of all authors.
