Atomes crochus grant

Paragraphs

ADAGP launches the newest edition of the Atomes crochus grant, a research and production grant aimed at encouraging artists and scientists to collaborate on ecological projects. At the heart of broad societal questions, this grant supports an artist or artist collective, together with a scientist or scientific institution, in the completion of a joint project addressing ecological issues. This grant aims to highlight the fundamental notions of sharing, interdisciplinarity and resonance. It seeks to foster dialogue between artists and scientists in the context of the environmental crisis.

How much is the grant?

The artist or artist collective in the winning duo will receive €16,500.

Who can apply?

This grant is aimed at a duo comprised of an artist or artist collective part of the French art scene (has been living or working in France for at least five years, or is a French national living abroad), and a scientist or scientific institution (association, laboratory, research centre, etc.). All scientific fields are included: natural sciences (physics, chemistry, biology, etc.), formal sciences (mathematics, logic, computer science, etc.), human and social sciences (history, psychology, anthropology, sociology, economics, linguistics, etc.), as well as all artistic fields that are part of ADAGP’s repertoire: painting, sculpture, photography, design, comic books, etc.

The scientist must be a professional, that is, their CV demonstrates their academic background and degrees, affiliation to a research institute, scientific publications, participation in conferences, symposia, etc.

For what kind of project?

This grant aims to support a collaborative project between the arts and the sciences. The project must focus on issues related to the environmental crisis (climate, migration, social issues, extinction, decarbonisation, etc.). The artist/scientist duo must submit an application together. The research project may begin before the application is submitted. A public presentation of the project is expected, but may take any form chosen by the duo (exhibition, publication, symposium, etc.).

What are the application requirements?

Each duo must submit their application in French. The process is available on ADAGP's application platform.
