You are covered by the French Social Security system and receive sickness, maternity, paternity, disability and death benefits from your local Caisse primaire d'Assurance Maladie (CPAM). Consequently :
- As an artist-author, you are entitled to reimbursement of your medical expenses from the first euro of income declared to Urssaf;
- You are entitled to daily sickness benefit, calculated on the basis of the income you have contributed to the artist-author scheme, from the 4th day of sick leave issued by your doctor (which must be sent to your Caisse primaire within 48 hours). Entitlement to compensation is conditional on your contribution account being up to date.
If you have several professional activities (artistic, commercial, self-employed or agricultural, salaried employment, etc.), you contribute to the corresponding scheme for each of them, but your social security coverage depends on the scheme where you contribute the most.
Your contributions as an artist-author are calculated in proportion to your income from your artistic activity, even if you have another professional activity, or are retired, disabled or receiving RSA.
Please note: As an artist-author, you do not pay contributions, so you are not covered in the event of a work-related accident or illness. Only employers contribute to these "risks", so only employees are covered. You can, however, take out voluntary insurance with your CPAM.
