The 2016 Young Talent Revelation prize for Digital Art-Video Art
The 2016 Young Talent Revelation prize for Digital Art-Video Art was awarded to Régina Demina on 7 October at the opening of the “Panorama 18” exhibition at Le Fresnoy
After the Young Talent Revelation prize in the Plastic Arts category presented at the Salon de Montrouge in May and the Young Talent Revelation prize in the Artist’s Book category at the MAD fair on 30 September, ADAGP awarded the Young Talent Revelation prize in the Digital Art-Video Art category on 7 October at the opening of the “Panorama 18” exhibition at Le Fresnoy.
The “Panorama 18” exhibition (8 October – 31 December) is the annual creative arts event at Le Fresnoy, showcasing the works made by students at Le Fresnoy arts school during the 2015-2016 academic year: video and/or audio installations, sculptures, photographs, performances, etc.
For this prize, the jury judged the works of second-year students who had created installations and videos. Moreover, the members of the jury stressed the high quality of the productions.
Jointly chaired by Hervé Di Rosa (artist) and Meret Meyer (Vice-President of the Marc Chagall Committee), with Ange Leccia (artist and Director of the Palais de Tokyo’s Pavillon Neuflize), Frédéric Ramade (film director and Director of the “Atelier A” collection presented on Arte Creative) and Sébastien Planas (Director of FILAF, the international art book and film festival), the jury was delighted to honour Régina Demina for her installation “ALMA”.
This piece, an unavowed self-portrait, is a dramatic poem revealing a universe worthy of David Lynch in which the viewer becomes entrapped. This space, with no actor, hypnotizes the visitor. With a simplicity of means but great scenographic quality, both through the lighting effects and the forceful sound concept, Régina Demina allows the viewer to experience a change of space.
The prize-winner will receive an endowment from ADAGP and have her portrait filmed by Arte and presented on the Art Creative website.
Le Fresnoy’s inventiveness and eclecticism fits perfectly with the desire of ADAGP, through its cultural action and defence of authors’ rights, to support and encourage contemporary creation in all its possible forms of expression.
