Artificial intelligence: ADAGP welcomes the adoption of the AI Act by the European Union
After many months of debate on the terms and content of the Artificial Intelligence Regulation (AI Act), in particular its copyright provisions, the Member States of the European Union have just unanimously adopted it within the framework of Coreper.
ADAGP today welcomes the unanimous adoption of the AI Act by the Member States. This regulation is essential because it sets out obligations in terms of respect for copyright and imposes transparency on suppliers of AI models. This political agreement will enable the development of innovative AI companies without sacrificing the rights of human creators.
In addition to being the first piece of legislation of its kind on a global scale, the AI Act marks the start of more detailed regulation of AI and should be seen as a first step in the fight by authors to assert their rights.
ADAGP will now be closely monitoring the implementation of this legislation, particularly with regard to the establishment of the AI Office, which is set to play a major role in the regulation of artificial intelligence systems.
