CIAGP, the international network of authors' societies, in London in 2024

06 Nov 2024

On Wednesday 6th November 2024, the annual meeting of the CIAGP (Conseil Internationale des Créateurs des Arts Graphiques, Plastiques et Photographiques) - chaired by artist Kader Attia and with ADAGP Director Marie-Anne Ferry-Fall as its general rapporteur - was held before delegates from visual arts authors' societies from around the world.

After the 2023 edition hosted by ADAGP in Paris, the CIAGP, which brings together over 50 societies of authors of the visual arts from around the world, meets in London on November 6th and 7th 2024.

The meeting will address a number of topics, including:

  • The role of CMOs (Collective Management Organizations) for creators in the visual arts - How can we build a sustainable artistic community within our CMOs?
  • Policy and protection - What are the most effective ways of working with policy-makers and governments to bring about change?
  • GenAI - What can CMOs do?

The latter, with a contribution from Thierry Maillard (Legal Director of ADAGP), addressed in particular the concerns of rightsholders whose works have been used by AI systems, and the role of CMOs in building fair regulation.

The CIAGP also re-elected Kader Attia as Chairman and Marie-Anne Ferry-Fall as General Rapporteur for a further term.
