My works are the subject of an extended collective licence

Paragraphs

Since 13 September 2022, ADAGP has been accredited by the Ministry of Culture to deliver extended collective licences. It allows ADAGP to extend contracts authorising the exploitation of its members’ works to non-member artists-authors, for the same type of artworks.

Which exploitations does this extension apply to?

  • The exploitation of works in digital form by educational establishments for illustration purposes, as part of their teaching activities (art. L. 122-5-4 of the French Intellectual Property Code) ;
  • The exploitation of visual artworks by content-sharing platforms (art. L. 137-2-1 of the French Intellectual Property Code);
  • The exploitation of visual artworks within scientific works openly released on the Internet (art. L. 139-1 of the French Intellectual Property Code).

Who is this measure for?

Only organisations accredited by the Ministry of Culture can deliver extended collective licences. ADAGP is the first collective management organisation to be accredited in France.

Artists-authors who are not members of an organisation's repertoire are the ones who benefit from this system. It allows them to receive, on the same basis as ADAGP members, a share of the remuneration collected under the licence.
