Key figures : Focus on the divide between men and women

06 Jan 2017

Historically, female artists are less represented within the membership of Adagp than their male counterparts. This is true in terms of the number of members of the society because only 32% are female.

But it is particularly the case concerning the royalties received, which are significantly lower, because the 32% of female artists receive only 9% of the royalties distributed by ADAGP. Of course, this is not due to any unfair rules applied by ADAGP, but reflects the works that are exhibited, published and distributed by art dealers.

A look at the young generation provides a more hopeful picture. Indeed, female artists below the age of 45 represent 41% of the author members of ADAGP in this age group and receive 31% of the collected royalties (for the same age group).
