Tatiana Trouvé and Kapwani Kiwanga, winners of the grant ADAGP – Etant Donnés 2018

Initiated by the Cultural Services of the Embassy of France in the United States and their partner foundation, FACE (French American Cultural Exchange), Etant Donnés is a program that provides financial support to non-profit American institutions who wish to present the work of artists from the French scene.

Since 1994, the Giving Fund has allocated more than $ 3 million to fund more than 300 projects.

The program promotes active collaborations and sustainable dynamics between artists, curators and cultural institutions of both countries by supporting:

- American commissioners conducting research in France

- residencies of French artists in the United States

- American institutions developing exhibitions, commissions or any major project involving French or French-based artists.

This year, the ADAGP wanted to support the scheme by offering two grants of € 15,000 each for assistance to the demonstration in American institutions prescribing artists mid-career, French nationality (or living in France for more than 5 years), members of the ADAGP.

The winning projects are this year's retrospective of Tatiana Trouvé (finally cancelled) and the exhibition of Kapwani Kiwanga to be held at the MIT List Visual Art Center (from February 7 to April 14, 2019).
