[Call for applications] Photography & Science Prize 2021
The 1 + 2 Residence, ADAGP and CNRS are committed to supporting contemporary photographic creation by creating the Photography & Sciences Prize, with the media partners Fisheye and Sciences et Avenir - La Recherche.
PRESENTATION OF THE PRIZE
This annual prize is intended for photographers of French nationality, regardless of age, developing an author's approach. An endowment of 7,000 euros will help the winning photographer to finalize a photographic series in progress, which combines photography and science. The remuneration of the winning photographer will be included in the endowment. The winner will also benefit from dedicated communication with media partners. The presentation of the complete series will be the subject of a screening and panel discussion at ADAGP in Paris.
CONDITIONS OF PARTICIPATION
This prize is open to all professional photographers of French nationality who develop an author's photograph.
The proposed photographic series must not have already been awarded a prize in a competition, prize or festival.
The jury will select only a photographic series in progress, not completed, fully associating photography and science. All photographic writings are concerned, all scientific disciplines can be approached.
APPLICATION (no registration fees)
The application file must include:
A biography (A4 and PDF format).
A coherent selection extracted from the current photographic series (15 images maximum in JPG format, 72 dpi, 2MB maximum). The images must be titled and captioned.
A text presenting the current photographic series (2000 characters maximum).
A note of intent describing the current series finalization project. This note must detail precisely the scientific disciplines, research laboratories and scientific personalities envisaged.
The duly completed registration form.
This file will be sent by WeTransfer, in a single document, in PDF format (Mac / PC compatible and without any software download being necessary), to the following address: philippeguionie@orange.fr.
ONLY COMPLETE FILES WILL BE EXAMINED BY THE PRESELECTION JURY
CALENDAR
Launch of the call for applications: Thursday July 8, 2021 at 11 a.m. at the Fisheye Gallery at the Rencontres de la photographie in Arles
Application deadline: September 24, 2021 at 7 p.m.
Jury meeting: October 2021 at ADAGP (Paris)
Announcement of the winner: end of October / beginning of November 2021
Restitution: May / June 2022 at ADAGP (Paris)
