The ADAGP is launching the 2nd edition of the Monographs Collection: annual grants to help finance the first monograph publication of ADAGP member artists.

The ADAGP continues to support artists at an important stage of their career – the publication of their first monograph – through a system of annual grants. The jury consists of artists Jean-Michel Alberola and Hervé Télémaque, art critic Stéphane Corréard, Marc Vaudey, Director of the artists' hub at the CNAP, and the artist and specialist in museum book and gift shops, Pascale Brun d’Arre.
 

What is the amount of the grant?

Each grant is for 15,000 euros.

 

Who can apply?

- Artists must have a professional career of at least 10 years (exhibitions, attendance at art fairs, etc.)

- Have been a member of the ADAGP for at least 3 years

- The publication project must be presented by the artist in association with a publisher, art centre or a gallery

 

For what type of publication?

- The publication must be the artist’s first monograph (a reference work that is ambitious for the artist and relates to at least 10 years’ work. This does not include exhibition catalogues)

- The publication must be part of an exhibition (at a gallery, art centre, etc.)

- The work must be published within 2 years of the date the grant is awarded

- Minimum print run of 500 copies

 

How to apply

Candidates should submit a complete application, typed and saved in pdf format, in French and by email only to the following address: monographie@adagp.fr including the following elements:

 

Administrative file

- The completed and signed form

- A sworn statement that the artist has not published a monograph in France and abroad

- The CV of the artist or collective to whom the monograph relates

- The double-sided copy of a form of ID (identity card, passport)

- The CV of the author of the texts

- The CV of the graphic designer

- A presentation of the gallery, art centre or publishing house – including the SIRET number

 

Artistic file

- The presentation of the monograph project (note of intention by the author – around one typed page) with the technical information on the publication (text languages, number of pages, number of illustrations, format, print run, release date, etc.) in particular

- The note of intention for the written part of the publication

- The initial mock-up of the publication (4-5 pages or graphic designer’s note of intention)

- 10 digital captioned photographs of works illustrating the publication project

- A statement from the publishing house, art centre or gallery on their commitment to publishing the planned monograph

 

Technical file

- A detailed budget listing expenditure (with manufacturing stations for the publication) and a detailed financial plan (with the financial contributions of the gallery, publisher, art centre, different partners etc. in figures, showing the amounts already acquired and outstanding).

- Different manufacturing quotes for the publication excl. tax and dated for all manufacturing stations for the publication)

- The schedule

- Launch of the call for applications: 9 April 2018

- Application submission deadline:  29 September 2018 at 2 pm

- Jury deliberations: late November 2018

- Announcement of artists awarded the grant: late November 2018
