[Call for applications] ADAGP / Le Bal Young Creation Prize

This prize is intended for photographers and / or videographers under the age of 40 who are French or have resided in France for at least one year. It aims to support the winner for two years in the realization of a creative project that has already started. Priority will be given to projects falling within the broad spectrum of image-document, articulating political / societal and aesthetic issues.

An endowment of 20,000 euros will allow the artist to complete his/her project. At the end of the two years, his/her work will be the subject of an exhibition at the BAL and a publication, in the fall of 2023. The winner will (also) benefit from a portrait filmed and broadcast on the website of 'Arte as well as a dedicated presentation on the walls of the ADAGP.

Following a preselection of five to ten applications, the jury - personalities from the world of visual arts - will meet on October 19, 2021 to distinguish the winner and the “favorites”. They will benefit from two days of masterclasses where they will meet professionals from the world of visual arts (publishers, graphic designers, heads of institutions, critics, artists, collectors, etc. .) in order to enrich and develop their creative project.

To apply, the candidate must:

• Be under the age of 40 (included) on the date of sending your application

• Be of age

• Be French or have lived in France for at least one year

• Have a photographic and / or video project already initiated
 

Applications should include the following elements:

• a coherent series of 15 to 20 photographs, taken from his/her current project, in maximum A4 format, imperatively bearing the artist's name on the back; and if the project requires it, 1 to 3 videos on a USB key imperatively bearing the name of the artist.

• a presentation text of the project in French or in English including a note of intent and a description of the works already produced within the framework of this project (format, technique, support, etc.).

• a CV detailing his/her background (training, exhibitions, editions, prices, etc.).

• the printed online application form, duly completed and signed

• an envelope stamped with his name and address in the format of the prints for return of the file
