THE 2018 REVELATION ARTIST’S BOOK AWARD GOES TO BENOIT FOUGEIROL

13 Sep 2018

The ADAGP and Multiple Art Days (MAD), an annual event devoted to contemporary art editions, are joining forces for the third year around the Revelation Artist's Book award, which is designed to promote and reveal the contemporary creation in the artistic discipline of artist’s books.

Under the artistic direction of Sylvie Boulanger (Director of the cneai=) and Michael Woolworth (Director of the Atelier Michael Woolworth), MAD will host for its 4th edition 120 publishers, on 14, 15 & 16 September 2018 at the Monnaie de Paris.

Last June, the MAD #4 Scientific Committee pre-selected 20 artists' books.

An exhibition of the preselected artists was presented during the art fair.

On the occasion of the opening, the winner of the third edition of the 2018 Revelation Artist's Book award was revealed. The jury, chaired by artist Elizabeth Garouste and composed of Ingrid Luquet-Gad (journalist and art critic), Julie Pellegrin (director of La Ferme du Buisson) and Anne-Sophie Tritschler (winner of the previous edition), gave the award to

Benoit Fougeirol for his artist’s book (Zus)

The jury highlighted “the renewed approach in representing the suburbs”. It salutes “the highly accomplished form that allows the reader to explore these areas (Sensitive Urban Zones) through the eyes of the multifaceted, non-authoritarian photographer. A creation that matches the substance and format allowing a free configuration and the possibility of moving away from the determinism of the place. It’s a book to read, to leaf through, to unfold, to display, in short, to discover even though everything is ephemeral”.
