Australia extends its resale right legislation
ADAGP welcomes the progressive recognition of resale right throughout the world and the recent adoption of more favourable legislation in Australia.
ADAGP is pleased to announce that Australia has just passed a long-awaited legislative reform on resale right. The reciprocity condition added to the legislation will allow ADAGP, from 31 March 2024, to collect resale right from Australian and Australian Aboriginal authors in France. Reciprocally, its Australian sister company Copyright Agency will now collect resale right from French authors on its national territory.
It also welcomes the recent progress made with the adoption of resale right by three new countries in recent months. Morocco, New Zealand and South Korea have incorporated this right into their national legislation.
Recognition of resale right is therefore continuing at international level, thanks in particular to the support of CISAC, EVA and GESAC.
