In accordance with the provisions of article L-111-1, there is no need to complete any formalities in advance to protect a work. Protection is gained solely by the fact of its creation.
Scope of principle :
However, in the absence of registration formalities, it can be difficult for an author to materially establish his/her paternity and the date of creation of his/her work. Therefore, it is in the interest of authors to establish proof in advance in the form of a registration.
