February: collective rights

Some copyrights are subject to mandatory collective management entrusted to societies of authors. Therefore, they cannot be the object of individual negotiations or transfer between authors and users.

By being a member of the ADAGP, you will receive, from France and abroad, the following collective rights

• The remuneration by private copy of images and the private copy of audiovisual works, remuneration paid by the manufacturers of recording media (DVD, USB keys, tablets, telephones, etc.) ;
• The right of TV retransmission which applies to works of visual art inserted in audiovisual works broadcast by cable, satellite and ADSL;
• The reprography (photocopy) right, collected from schools, universities, companies, copy services, etc. by the French Center for the Exploitation of Copy Rights (CFC) and paid to authors via the authors' societies or publishers;
• Rights related to educational uses, notably for the use of works in class, reproduction in exam subjects, etc;
• Lending rights, remuneration of authors for books lent in libraries. Sofia, authorized to collect this right, pays it to ADAGP for its members.

Please note: Artists-authors who are members of Sofia can also join ADAGP to receive their complementary collective rights (above).

These collective rights are collected and distributed by ADAGP.

To benefit fully from them, complete the Press, Book and TV declaration forms for the past year before February 28, via the Members' Area. Also declare foreign editions (book and press), especially from Germany, Great Britain and the Netherlands. ADAGP will then be able to collect and pay you the royalties due to you.

• Press declaration: reprography and private copy image ;
• Book declaration: reprography, private copy image;
• TV declaration: audiovisual private copy and retransmission by cable, satellite and ADSL.

The remuneration for educational uses does not require any declaration, your membership to the ADAGP systematically opens this right.
